Missouri State University’s Baker Observatory will host a Public Observing Night Friday night (11/16) from 6 to 9.  View Mars, Saturn and Nebulas.  In case of clouds, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday night (11/17). 

The 23rd annual Cup O’ Cheer Homes Tour, Market and Tea, to benefit Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks, is Friday (11/16) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  The tour features five area homes decorated for the holidays.  The tea and market will be at the Diamond Room, 2340 W. Grand. 

The Midtown Carnegie Branch Library will present “Is There Enough Thanksgiving for Mouse?” Friday morning (11/16) at 10 for infants through age six.  Listen to the story, “One is a Feast for Mouse” by Judy Cox and celebrate all that we’re thankful for with songs and activities. 

The Branson Regional Arts Council presents a charity talent show at the Owen Theatre in downtown Branson Friday night (11/16) at 7.  Proceeds benefit the Arts Council’s Youth Education Fund.

The Rock House Center for the Arts on Main St. in Reeds Spring will host the Rock House Square DanceFriday night (11/16) at 7. 

Branson’s Gift of Lights, holiday light display, is open through January 1 on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. 

The City of Monett’s Christmas light display, Festival of Lights, can be seen nightly through December 31 at Highways 37 and 60 in Monett. 

The Brothers Osborne World Tour with Charlie Worsham comes to the Historic Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield, Friday night (11/16) at 8. 

The MSU Lady Bears volleylball team will host Valparaiso Friday night (11/16) at 7 at Hammons Student Center.  Learn more here

The Antique Festival of the Ozarks is Friday through Sunday (11/16-11/18) at Best Western Inn of the Ozarks, 207 W. Van Buren in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. 

The Cosmopolitan Club of Ozark will host the 11th annual Ozark Craft Festival Friday (11/16) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday (11/17) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ozark Community Center, 1530 W. Jackson. 

The 18th annual Turkey Shootout, presented by Joplin Parks and Recreation, will be held Friday night (11/16) from 6:30 to 8:30 at Memorial Hall at 3301 W. 1st St. in Joplin.   The free throw contest is for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade.  They’ll compete for prizes, including a Thanksgiving turkey.  Registration is required. 

The 10th annual Ozarks Beerfest is Saturday (11/17) from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Springfield Expo Center, 635 E. St. Louis in Springfield.  A Beerfest Eve Charity Poker Tournament starts Friday night (11/16) at 5:30.

Drury University’s Humanities and Democracy Film Series continues Saturday afternoon (11/17) at 1 at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in downtown Springfield.  The featured film will be “State of the Union.”  The film will be followed by a short discussion with Drury English professor, Dr. Katherine Gilbert. 

The MSU Opera and the Messiah Project are teaming up to present two opera performances:  “Amahl and the Night Visitors” and “The Gift of the Magi” Saturday night (11/17) at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon (11/18) at 3:30 at the Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Dr. and November 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Monett Performing Arts Center, 1 David Sippy Dr. in Monett. 

The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is hosting a five-mile naturalist-guided hike at Roaring River State Park Saturday (11/17).  Registration is required for the Take a Hike program. 

The Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony starts Saturday night (11/17) at 6:30 and goes until 8 on Park Central Square with a tree lighting, selfies with Santa, costumed characters, musical performances and free carriage rides. 

The 54th annual Ozark Christmas Parade is Saturday night (11/17) at 5:30 in downtown Ozark. 

Skate for free as part of Springfield Festival of Lights Saturday night (11/17) from 6:45 to 8:45 at Mediacom Ice Park. Skate rental is $3.  Learn more here

Third Saturdays at the Homestead continues this weekend at the Nathan Boone State Historic Site in Ash Grove.  The program, “Historical Skills: Candle Making” will start at 1 p.m. Saturday (11/17). 

The program, “A Year of Everyday Theme Dining,” for adults, will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (11/17) at the Ozark Branch Library.  Get tips on invitations, printed menus, tablescapes and more.  Registration is required at (417) 581-2432. 

The ThinkMo Convention will be held Saturday (11/17) from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 1100 E. Madison in Springfield.  The event is focused on science, education, humanism and community. 

Yoga for Health will start Saturday afternoon (11/17) at 2 at the Library Station for adults. 

Pound the Pavement for Parkinson’s, a 5K run/walk, will start Saturday morning (11/17) at 8:30 at McBride Elementary, 5005 S. Farm Rd. 135 in Springfield. 

Cruse Dog Park, 2100 W. Catalpa in Springfield, will celebrate its 10th anniversary Saturday (11/17) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with treats for humans and dogs and onsite membership registration. 

The Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Ladies is hosting the FEZtival of Trees through Sunday (11/18) at the Shrine Mosque, 601 E. St. Louis St. in Springfield.  The event features Santa’s Workshop with a kid’s craft for purchase, live entertainment, Santa’s Snack Shoppe, pictures with Santa, Crafter’s Village and a Christmas tree raffle.  Admission is $5, and children 12 and younger get in free. 

The Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in downtown Springfield, invites kids three to six-years-old to Moxie Mornings Saturday morning (11/17) at 10.  The free program includes an innovative short film and hands-on art making. 

Branson Regional Arts Council presents “Let’s Jam—The Music of the Hills” Saturday night (11/17) at 7 at the Historic Owen Theatre, 205 S. Commercial in downtown Branson.  The free concert traces the 350 year odyssey of Ozark fiddle music from Scotland (1650) to the fiddle jams of today. 

The Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in downtown Springfield, will present the play, “Lewis and Tolkien: Of Wardrobe and Rings” Saturday night (11/17) at 7:30. 

The program, “Path to War: The Road to U.S. Entry into the First World War, 1914-1917,” will start Saturday afternoon (11/17) at 2 at the Library Center.  Adults only. 

The sixth annual Mini Doctor WhoCon will be held Saturday (11/17) from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Strafford Branch Library for all ages with themed snacks, games and trivia contests.  Costumes are encouraged.   

A Music and Art Festival will be held Saturday (11/17) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Durand Center, 303 N. Main in Harrison, Arkansas. 

George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond presents the 30-minute film, “A Genius Remembered,” Saturday and Sunday (11/17-11/18) afternoon at 2. 

Hot Rod Holiday, an indoor car, truck and bike show will be held Saturday (11/17) and Sunday (11/18) at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. 

The local skateboard film,“Jenesis,” will be shown Sunday night (11/18) at 7:30 at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in downtown Springfield. Admission is $5. 

The Moxie Cinema’s Essentials Film Series will feature the 1940 film, “His Girl Friday,” Sunday afternoon (11/18) at 3:30 and Monday night (11/19) at 7 at 305 S. Campbell in Springfield.  The series focuses on films you should see on the big screen. 

Sunday Make & Play is Sunday afternoon (11/18) from 2 to 4 at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  Stop by for a hands-on, interactive experience with a maker, play and art focus. 

Kingsway United Methodist Church, 2401 S. Lone Pine in Springfield, will present the Piano Extravaganza! Sunday afternoon (11/18) at 3. 

An Artist Panel will start Sunday afternoon (11/18) at 2 in the Community Room at the Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Dr.  Artists whose work is in the 4X4 2018 Midwest Invitational Exhibit will talk about their work.
