The Ozark Mountain Music Festival continues through Sunday (1/20) at the Basin Park Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  It’s an Ozark Mountain fusion of bluegrass, folk and American roots music. 

The 2019 Cardinals Caravan at Hammons Field starts Friday (1/18) at 12:30 p.m.  Doors open at 11:45 a.m. at the Indoor Training Facility.  Current players in attendance will be Jack Flaherty, Yairo Munoz, Dominic Leone and Max Schrock.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids three to 12-years-old, and proceeds benefit Children’s Miracle Network. 

The 28th annual Lions Club Chili Dinner is Friday (1/18) from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Harrison High School Cafeteria in Harrison, Arkansas.  All-you-can-eat chili, cheese, crackers, dessert and drink costs $5.

The Little Acorns program, Regal Eagles, for kids three to six-years-old, will be held Friday (1/18) at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Walter Wood Conservation Area in Joplin.  Registration is required.   

The Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield, presents Atmosphere with deM Atlas, The Lioness and DJ KeezyFriday night (1/18) at 8.

Adults are invited to a program on internet safety Friday (1/18) at 10 a.m. at the Republic  Branch Library.  Learn about anti-virus programs, Internet privacy, how to keep your personal information safe and create secure passwords. 

Kids in grades nine-12 will learn how to make their own podcasts during a Podcasting Workshop Friday night (1/18) at 6 at the Library Center.  Learn more here

Springfield Contemporary Theatre, 431 S. Jefferson, will present “Chesapeake” Friday night (1/18) at 7:30 and Saturday (1/19) at 2:30. 

Springfield Little Theatre presents “Cabaret” through February 3 at Nathan P. Murphy’s, 218 S. Campbell in Springfield.

The program, "Woodworking for Wildlife," will be held Saturday morning (1/19) at 8:30 at the Andy Dalton Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center, 4897 N. Farm Rd. 61 in Ash Grove.  Learn how to make a bluebird nesting box.  Registration is required. 

The Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way, will host Eagle Days Saturday (1/19) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday (1/20) from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.  Dickerson Park Zoo will present a program featuring a live bald eagle every hour on the hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 12:30 to 3:30 Sunday.  Spotting scopes will be set up both days at the Lake Springfield Boathouse and Marina. 

Tours of Ritter Springs Cave, just north of Springfield, will be offered this weekend.  Hours are 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (1/19 & 1/20). Register by Friday (1/18). 

The Mystery Hour will tape Saturday night (1/19) at 7 at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield.

Plotline presents local filmmaker, Austin McConnell, Saturday (1/19) at 4 p.m. at the Springfield Art Museum.  He’ll share his experience, tips and tricks and what it took to become a successful YouTuber.  Learn more here

Help celebrate Fiona the hippo’s second birthday Saturday (1/19) at 10 a.m. at the Library Center.  The event will include Fiona stories, information about hippos and Fiona-related activities.  Learn more here

The 2019 Women’s March, hosted by SWMO NOW, will be held Saturday (1/19) from noon to 4 p.m. on Park Central Square in Springfield. 

A Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday (1/19-1/21) at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond. 

“Winter Raptors” will start Saturday (1/19) at 11 a.m. at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond.  The program will feature live raptors, and representatives of the Pittsburg State University Biology Department will share information about the birds. 

The Discovery Center will host the Parent/Child Workshop, “Squid and Perch Dissection,” Saturday (1/19) at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Registration and a fee are required. 

The Moxie Flix Series at the Gillioz, which features essential films for kids to see before they turn 13, continues Friday morning (1/18) at 4:30 and Saturday morning (1/19) at 10 at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield.  The featured film is “The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales.” 

The program, "America’s Got Kitties," will be held Saturday (1/19) from 2 to 4 at the Library Center. The library will screen videos submitted in its cat video contest and will award prizes.  There will also be cat crafts. 

Springfield Contemporary Theatre, 431 S. Jefferson, presents “Anything Behind Me” through Sunday (1/20).  

Kids in grades K-6 are invited to “Art Exploration” Saturday (1/19) at 2 at the Library Station.  Kids will explore a wide range of artistic styles and mediums. 

“Sunday Make ‘n Play: Family Edition” is Sunday (1/20) from 2 to 4 at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library for age three to grade four. 

“Yeti Day” is Sunday (1/20) at 2 at the Library Station for age two to grade two. 

The Springfield NAACP Martin Luther King Jr. March and Celebrationwill be held Monday (1/21). It will start at 9 a.m. at Jordan Valley Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway, and participants will march to the Gillioz for the program, “Reigniting the Dream.” 

The Springfield Multicultural Festival will be held Monday (1/21) from noon to 5 at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center.  It’s an annual performing arts and community resource expo designed to provide access to cultural enrichment through the visual and performing arts. 

Friends of the Garden will hold a volunteer orientation for anyone who would like to volunteer with the organization Monday (1/21) at 10 a.m. at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  Registration is required.
