Springfield leaders are considering whether to accept roughly $140,000 that would help launch a new effort intended to make life healthier for new babies — by having nurses check in with their families at home.

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks announced this week that it awarded $350,000 to 38 Ozarks nonprofit agencies on behalf of the Jeannette L. Musgrave Foundation. Most of the funding goes towards causes benefiting children.

Missouri’s health department has offered a formal recommendation of Pfizer vaccine booster doses for children ages 5 through 11. Earlier, COVID vaccine eligibility was limited to those 12 and older.
