Birthplace of Route 66 Festival

Springfield has been chosen as the host city for the nationwide kickoff of America’s Route 66 Centennial Celebration in 2026.

The Birthplace of Route 66 Festival will bring thousands of people to downtown Springfield this weekend. The City of Springfield is making sure the public is aware of road closures that will impact the area of the Festival and the Festival’s parade route.

Closures begin today and will go through early Sunday morning.

The event will be held Friday, August 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Springfield Expo Center.
