MSU Fans Can Meet, Hear From New Football Coach Steckel

New Missouri State University football coach Dave Steckel and members of his staff will participate in a meet and greet on Wednesday.

The free fan event will take place in the lobby of Hammons Student Center on the Springfield campus from 5-6:15 p.m. that day. Fans may enter through the south doors at the Bear Blvd. entrance to the facility. Light refreshments will be served, and Steckel will speak to the crowd at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Steckel will also address fans at JQH Arena later that evening at halftime of the Bears’ home basketball game against Evansville.

Steckel's hire was announced by Missouri State University officials last month. He had spent the past 14 seasons with the University of Missouri Tigers as associate head coach and defensive coordinator.

Scott joined KSMU in November 2012. He had previously served five years as news director for KETR-FM, the public radio station in Commerce, Texas. A graduate of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Scott enjoys producing human-interest stories, among other pieces that educate and engage the community. When not at work, he’s often taking part in outdoor activities, exploring new areas and restaurants, or staying up-to-date with the latest news and information. Scott was born and raised in Shenandoah, Iowa.
