The Springfield Lasers have selected one of the world’s top tennis names to play for them this summer: Andy Roddick. KSMU's Jennifer Davidson has details.

Andy Roddick, who won the 2003 US Open and who's claimed 32 professional titles, will play for the Lasers this summer.

The Lasers selected the tennis star with the team's first overall pick of the 2013 Marquee Player Draft – that’s part of the Mylan World TeamTennis program.

According to a release from the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, The Lasers will also have a “marquee visit” from one of tennis’ up and coming female stars, 19-year-old Sloane Stephens. Stephens recently defeated Serena Williams in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

All seven Lasers home matches will be played this summer in the Mediacom Tennis Stadium at Cooper Tennis Complex. That’s at 2331 E. Pythian Street in Springfield.
