As the U.S. works to figure out how the collision between an American reconnaissance plane and a Chinese fighter jet took place, talks between the two nations are intensifying. China is still holding the 24 crew of the EP-3, which also remains in China's custody. The U.S. is trying to win their release and the plane's return. NPR's Tom Gjelten reports.

David D'Arcy profiles Cristina Branco, a young Portuguese singer, who's helping revive the popularity of traditional Fado music. Fado ballads are usually sad, sung in minor keys, and accompanied by guitar. Branco says she became interested in singing Fado after hearing recordings made by Portugal's greatest Fado singer, Amalia Rodrigues. In a documentary film, Rodrigues refers to Fado as an 'eternal lament.'

Rock historian Ed Ward tells us about Chicago singer and songwriter Barbara Acklin who almost made it big.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing today into online copyright issues -- both music and publishing. Many senators were critical of the recording industry as they questioned such panelists as Alanis Morrisette and Don Henley. NPR's Rick Karr reports.

Robert Siegel talks with Chuck Sudetic, author of Blood and Vengeance: One Family's Story of the War in Bosnia, about other indicted Yugoslavian war criminals who have yet to be arrested, where they are and what they're doing. Sudetic suggests the Milosevic arrest may lead some of these accused war criminals to start betraying each other, and that will play into the hands of the Hague tribunal.
