When disaster strikes, communities tend to pull together to help those in need. For Branson, the Salvation Army is doing just that. KSMU’s Shane Franklin has more.
The Salvation Army has descended on Branson to help with the relief effort that’s currently underway. Audrey Esther is the Community Relations Director for The Salvation Army in the Ozarks area.
“Our immediate priority and concern remains to meet the immediate needs of the folks in this area: The first responders, the storm survivors, the cleanup crews.”
She said that two canteens, or mobile feeding stations, will be set up in the area. They will provide food: hot nutritious meals, snacks, and water and cold beverages to anyone in need. Also, The Salvation Army will be providing spiritual and emotional care for those affected.
“This community is coming together rapidly, and folks are really collaborating and working together to get this city back on its feet. The Salvation Army is very proud of what we do. We’re glad to be here and to help in any way we can.”
Esther said that the Salvation Army will be helping in the cleanup effort for as long as needed, and the best thing community members could do to help would be to donate funds or food supplies. For KSMU News, I’m Shane Franklin.
