Drury University officials today broke ground for the O’Reilly Family Event Center on the Springfield campus. Once the facility is built, it will have the highest energy efficiency rating for an arena in the country. KSMU’s Theresa Carter spoke with Drury University’s president Todd Parnell and files this report.
The O’Reilly Family Event Center will host many university and athletic events as well as community events. But its impact is already being felt beyond the local community. Todd Parnell is the president of Drury University.
LEED certification is based on a building’s energy efficiency and environmentally-friendly features. A gift from the Pitt Family enabled the university to upgrade its construction plans. Additional support for the center also comes from a variety of other sponsors and collaborative partnerships.The O’Reilly Family Event Center is projected to open in the fall of 2010.For KSMU news, I am Theresa Carter.
