Drury University officials want to be sure staff and students have plenty of opportunities to recycle. They'll use a grant they recently received to do just that. Michele Skalicky reports.
The $17,992 Drury received from Solid Waste District O in support of the university's recycling program will be used in 3 ways: To purchase recycling bins to be placed in dorms and in other university housing, to pay 2 student workers to empty those bins and to install additional signs on campus to direct people to recycling locations.

Wendy Anderson is an associate professor of biology at Drury. She says university staff and students have been demanding more recycling opportunities on campus and Drury officials are responding
Drury's efforts to encourage recycling are part of its commitment to the Central Street Recycling Coalition. The coalition is made up of Ozarks Technical Community College, Springfield Public Schools, The Springfield-Greene County Library, the City of Springfield and Greene County
Wendy Anderson says, eventually, they'd like to have a central location on Central St. for depositing recyclables.
She says members of the Central Street Recycling Coalition encourage one another and hold each other accountable for their commitment to recycling.
