Crane Broiler Festival

The Crane Broiler Festival is Friday and Saturday (8/23-8/24) at Crane City Park with carnival rides, broiled chicken dinners, craft vendors and more. 

Queen City Shout, a music, art and film festival, continues through Sunday (8/25) on C-Street.  Proceeds go toward local poverty relief efforts.  

The Storytelling Festival will be held Friday night (8/23) from 6 to 8 and Saturday (8/24) from 11 to 3 at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond. 

A community listening session will be held Friday morning (8/23) at 10 at the Strafford Branch Library.  Patrons can share what they’d like to see in the future at the library. 

The Little Acorns program,“Ant Antics,” for kids three to six-years-old, will be held Friday and Saturday morning (8/23-8/24) at 10:30 at Walter Woods Conservation Area, 7129 Dutch Elm Dr. in Joplin.  No registration is required. 

Nerf Battle at the Discovery Center will be held Friday night (8/23) at 6:30 at the center, 438 E. St. Louis in Springfield.  Kids will use Nerf guns to fight their way through the Discovery Center after hours. 

Springfield Improv presents the “Spring Vegas Sketch Show” Friday night (8/23) at 8 at 308 South Ave. in Springfield.  “Springfield Improv-The Musical” is Saturday night (8/24) at 7:30 and “Big and Tall Show” is Saturday night at 9. 

Supernatural: Live Parodies-Bad Day at Black Rock will be at Nathan P. Murphy’s , 218 S. Campbell in Springfield, Friday night (8/23) at 7:30. 

The Full Draw Film Tourwill be at The Old Glass Place, 521 E. St. Louis in Springfield, Friday night (8/23) from 6 to 10.  Watch bowhunting films on the big screen. 

The 10th annual Habitat Home Run 5K, 10K and one mile fun run will start Saturday morning (8/24) at 7 at Lafayette Park, 202 E. Atlantic in Springfield. 

Craft Beer Bash 2019 is Saturday (8/24) from noon to 5 on Park Central Square in Springfield.  Sample over 100 beers from local breweries as well as food from local food trucks.  Proceeds benefit Hope Foundation. 

A beginning fishing clinic will be held Saturday morning (8/24) at 9 at Chesapeake Hatchery, 21186 Highway 174 in Mount Vernon.  Registration is required. 

Learn how to build a water garden during a program Saturday morning (8/24) at 8 at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield. 

Clinics to learn how to paddle with your dog in a canoe or kayak will start Saturday (8/24) at 10 a.m. and noon at Wildcat Glades in Joplin. Registration and a fee are required. 

The program, “Aquatics: Crawdads & Aqua Bugs,” will be held Saturday morning (8/24) at 10 at Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center, 483 Hatchery Rd. in Branson. 

Anyone 12 and older is invited to the program, “Nature Art: The Art of Woodcarving,” Saturday morning (8/24) at 11 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way. Registration is required. 

A woodcarving demonstration will be held Saturday afternoon (8/24) from 1 to 4 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way. Stop by anytime. 

The “'Wizard of Oz' Sing-Along Spectacular" will be held Saturday afternoon (8/24) at 2, and the “'Wizard of Oz' Trivia Night" starts at 6 at the Library Station.  Learn more here

“Discover Nature: Monarchs Rule” will be held Saturday afternoon (8/24) at 1 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  Learn about monarch butterfly conservation, citizen science opportunities and more.  Registration is required. 

NAMI of Southwest Missouri will host the Neon Night Run 5K, a suicide prevention run/walk Saturday night (8/24) at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park in Springfield. 

Kids Fair 2019 is Saturday (8/24) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield.  Free tickets are available in advance at several locations. 

The Mystery Hour will be at the Gillioz Theatre Saturday night (8/24) at 7:30.  Guests include Chauncey Leopardi who played Squints in Sandlot; standup comedian, Orlando Leyba and eight-year-old golfer, Landon Nichols. 

Drumming in the Park will be held Saturday night (8/25) at 6 at Basin Spring Park in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Take a drum or anything else that makes noise. 

Artillery Firing Demonstrations will be held Saturday (8/24) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every hour on the hour at Tour Stop 5 at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield. 

Willard’s Birthday Picnic in the Park will be held Saturday night (8/24) from 5:30 to 8 at Jackson Street Park in Willard with music by Dallas Jones.  Hot dogs and chips will be for sale. 

The Missouri State Women’s Volleyball vs. Maroon and White Scrimmage will be held Saturday night (8/24) at 6 at Hammons Student Center. 

The All Corps event, with performances by Parkview High School’s Lassies and Central High School’s Kilties, will start Saturday night (8/24) at 5 at JFK Stadium, 1333 S. Grant in Springfield. 

The “'Frozen' Sing-A-Long at the Gillioz” will be held Sunday afternoon (8/25) at 3.  Springfield Little Theatre and the Discovery Center are partnering to bring the showing of "Frozen" as a sing-a-long to the Gillioz, 325 Park Central East. 

The Moxie Cinema’s Essential Film Series will feature the 1979 film,“Being There,” Sunday night (8/25) at 5:30 and Monday night (8/26) at 7. 

The National Park Service Founders Day Celebration will be held Sunday afternoon (8/25) at 1 at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond. 

Sunday (8/25) is Fee Free Day at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield and other national park sites in celebration of the National Park Service’s birthday.
