Two local universities have made it on the annual “Guide to 399 Green Colleges,” Princeton Review’s list of the most environmentally responsible schools in the United States.  More than 2,000 schools were considered, and Drury University and Missouri State University both made the list.

Drury points to several efforts toward sustainability it’s made including a commitment to transitioning all exterior campus lighting to LED; being designated as a Tree Campus USA; native landscape restoration; water bottle filling stations and high efficiency equipment upgrades.

Sustainability efforts at MSU include hydration stations across campus, a community garden, a student sustainability fund, a sustainability minor, a solar power system and recycling.

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand. She enjoys working on both the announcing side and in news and has been the recipient of statewide and national awards for news reporting. She likes to tell stories that make a difference. Michele enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, camping and leisurely kayaking.
