Ozarks native Laura McHugh is returning to the Ozarks to read her latest novel, The Wolf Wants In, on September 30th. The public reading is at 7 p.m. at The Library Center on Campbell in Springfield, and a signing will follow.

The book was released in early August by Spiegel and Grau and is set in the midwest. McHugh said The Wolf Wants In is a dark, suspenseful mystery and anyone who enjoys the genre — or books set in the midwest — should come out to the reading.

“It’s really kind of fun for me to come back and connect with people in the area, because I’m always writing about the area. The midwest is fascinating to me, and I think it might be interesting to people,” McHugh said.

McHugh said she grew up in the small town of Tecumseh, Missouri.   At that September 30 event, she’s also expected to discuss her writing process and the research she did for the book.

The reading is provided as part of a partnership with the Ozarks Studies Institute, an initiative of the Missouri State University Libraries.
