The Taney County Health Department said it is seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases. According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ Dashboard, there have been 67 confirmed cases in the last 7 days in Taney County.
The health department’s director, Lisa Marshall, said in a news release that the uptick is not surprising. She said they experienced the same thing this time last year. But the difference now is vaccines are available. And there are COVID-19 variants now. But the vaccine rate in much of rural Missouri remains low. Just over 23 percent of Taney County residents have completed their COVID-19 vaccinations, according to the DHSS COVID-19 Dashboard.
Marshall said the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is to get the vaccine. It’s now available for anyone 12 and older. A clinic will be held Tuesday (6/8) from 3 to 6 and Wednesday (6/9) from 9 to 4 at the Shoppes at Branson Meadows. The Pfizer vaccine will be available.
