The Christian County Library will be able to expand and make other improvements after voters Tuesday approved a tax levy question. Library branches will be added in Nixa, Sparta and Clever, and improvements will be made to the facility in Ozark, including additional meeting rooms and a drive-through.
With 73 percent saying yes, voters in Republic, voters approved the renewal and revision of a ¼-cent capital improvements sales tax. The tax, which previously allowed for stormwater projects only, can now be used for things like sidewalks, ADA compliance and storm sirens. It will sunset in 10 years.
Fair Grove voters said no to a question on Tuesday’s ballot that asked for a local use tax to be imposed at the same rate as the total local sales tax. The tally was 72 percent against the measure.
A special District 28 Senate election was held Tuesday for a seat vacated by Mike Parson who was elected last fall to the MO lieutenant governor position. The winner was Republican Sandy Crawford of Buffalo who defeated Democrat Al Skalicky of Bolivar with 68 percent of the vote.
