A man from Southwest Missouri will serve on the state Conservation Commission. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.
A Southwest Missouri man will fill a vacancy on the state Conservation Commission, which oversees hunting, fishing and forestry.
Governor Matt Blunt was in Springfield today (Monday) at the Conservation Nature Center where he announced that Chip McGeehan will join the commission.
McGeehan replaces Anita Gorman of Kansas City, whose term expired.
Prior to McGeehan's appointment, it had been a decade since a Springfield area resident had served on the commission.
Governor Matt Blunt says it's time for someone from Southwest Missouri to sit on the commission, which makes important decisions about conservation policy and spending revenue from the state's parks and soil tax.
Blunt has appointed McGeehan to one six-year term on the commission.
Last year, McGeehan gave the maximum contribution allowed under the law, 24 hundred dollars to Matt Bunt's gubernatorial campaign.
