Springfield-Greene County Park Board

As temperatures reach the mid 90s  in the Ozarks this week with the heat index above 105, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board is offering places for the public to cool off.

All three family centers have opened their lobbies as cooling centers during the heat advisory.  They are:

  • Chesterfield Family Center, 2511 W. Republic Rd.
  • Dan Kinney Family Center, 2701 S. Blackman Rd.

The lobbies have seating, restroom access and air conditioning, and hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Jordan Valley Ice Park’s lobby is open as a public cooling center from noon to 8 p.m.
Three public pools will remain open until 8 p.m. during the heat advisory.  Silver Springs Pool, 1100 N. Hampton, is open late Tuesday night, August 10, and Thursday night, August 12, and Fassnight Pool will stay open until 8 Wednesday night, August 11.
