A blessing for the new ER at Mercy Springfield took place Monday.  The $7.5 million, 6300-square-foot project was funded by donors.

It will feature a child-friendly waiting area, 11 exam rooms and a sensory room for children with autism or anxiety.

The project also includes an upgrade to the adult ER waiting area.

The Mercy Kids ER will open to patients on June 8.
