Police Arrest Suspect In Connection With Fire, Suspicious Death In Springfield

A suspect is in custody in connection with a death on Springfield’s west side earlier this week.

Sixty-six-year-old Alice Hale was found dead inside a burning home at 1736 W. Lombard.  Springfield Police officers and firefighters who responded determined the death to be suspicious.  An investigation found that Hale died from injuries unrelated to the fire.

Forty-six-year-old Pavel Samsinek was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder, second-degree arson, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence, according to SPD.  He’s being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.

Anyone with information is asked to call (417) 869-TIPS.

This was the 20th violent death in Springfield this year.
