B-21 Bombers to be Housed in Missouri

Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Knoster will be one of three in the U.S. to house the B-21 bomber.  The B-2 will be replaced with the B-21 beginning in the mid 2020’s.

The Missouri base will be the second to receive the bomber.  The first is Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, commended the U.S. Air Force’s announcement.

He said the U.S. Air Force made the right decision in selecting Whiteman as the home of the B-21, and it’s a big win for our state and the local community.

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand.
