Mercy Offers Virtual COVID-19 Care At Home For Some In Lieu Of Hospitalization

Mercy will begin offering virtual COVID-19 care at home to help meet the demand for hospital beds as the coronavirus continues to spread.

Mercy COVID Care @ Home will offer remote, in-home care for patients with mild symptoms or who may need low-flow rates of oxygen, according to the healthcare system.  The 24-hour care will include measurement of oxygen saturation and adjusting oxygen flow as necessary.

In a news release, Mercy said an emergency room physician will help determine the type of care a patient needs—from an in-home visit, evaluation in one of the outpatient clinics or in a hospital setting.

If a patient’s condition worsens during home care, the Mercy Virtual team will evaluate and determine what the next steps, including hospitalization, should be.
