Ilga Vise talks with Heather Parker and Cassandra Siperko with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department's Community Outreach, about their jobs and how they fulfill the department's mission.
Parker, who works in the Chronic Disease Prevention Division as a community outreach coordinator and oversees the Community Health Advocate Program, says they began their focus in the Weller neighborhood and have expanded into northwest Springfield.
Siperko, a resident of the Weller neighborhood, has worked as a community health advocate since 2014 and currently serves on the Community Health Workers Board for the state of Missouri.
Community health advocate worker training is being planned in Springfield. OTC will host training in January-May 2016.
