Stephen Snyder-Hill served for 26 years in the military without telling anyone he was gay. But two days after “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” was repealed in 2011, he submitted a question for a Republican Primary debate via video from Iraq where he was on active duty: would the candidates reinstate “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” if they were elected? Even though his question received boos from the audience, it was the beginning of Snyder-Hill’s push for change for the LGBT community. He’s written a book about his experiences, "Soldier of Change: from the Closet to the Forefront of the Gay Right's Movement." Snyder-Hill will speak at Missouri State University’s Plaster Student Union tonight (10/12) at 6. KSMU’s Michele Skalicky talked with the soldier ahead of his visit.
