Despite a Soggy Weekend Forecast, Nice Weather Expected for Labor Day

With heavy rain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday, KSMU’s Melanie Foehrweiser looks at what you can expect for the rest of the holiday weekend.

The remnants of Hurricane Issac, which has been downgraded to a tropical storm, are expected to be out of the area by Labor Day. John Gagan is a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Springfield.

“Labor Day’s looking pretty good. The low pressure…remnant low pressure from Issac will be exiting to our northeast Saturday night. Rainfall chances will go to the east with it, so it looks like we’ll have clearing skies for Sunday, and near normal temperatures, temperatures up near upper 80, around 90 degrees for Labor Day.”

The Office of Emergency Management for Springfield-Greene County urges anyone who plans on going to a river or lake this weekend to be on the lookout for quickly rising water.

For KSMU News, I’m Melanie Foehrweiser.
