Adults are invited to attend Black History of Springfield from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, in the Library Center auditorium, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.

The stories of Black lives are woven throughout the tapestry of Springfield’s history. Join H. Wes Pratt, Missouri State University’s Chief Diversity Officer and Assistant to the President, as he highlights the rich and complex history of Springfield’s Black community. Pratt will touch on slavery and emancipation, education, Route 66, Black-owned business, civil rights and the annual traditions and celebrations that have been born out of the Black experience in Springfield.
