Here are the performances of the first, second and third place winners of the 7th annual KSMU Youth In Bluegrass Band Contest at Silver Dollar City May 24th and 25th, 2008.
Mike Smith, host of KSMU's Saturday night Bluegrass music program "Seldom Heard Music" serves as host of the annual event, this year held at SDC's 1000 seat Opera House Theater. The 3rd place winner, receiving a check for $300.00, was the Clark Brothers Band from Searcy Arkansas. Taking 2nd place at the KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Band Contest, and receiving $600.00, the Stockdale Family Band from Bolivar Ohio. Receiving the $1000.00 first place award from Silver Dollar City was Timberland Drive from Mountain View Arkansas. Before we hear the top 3 bands from this year, let's listen in to the "The Punches" from Fredericktown Mo. The Punches won the contest in 2007, and performed for the Opera House Theater audience while the judges scores were being tallied.
