Soon, not only will you be able to let books take you around the world at the Library Center, you’ll also be able to take the first step toward actually going around the world.
Starting Monday June 9th, Springfield and Greene County-area residents will be able to apply for a U.S. passport and get a passport photo taken at the Library Center.
The service will be offered during the library’s hours, seven days a week, and no appointments are needed.
For now, the Library Center will be the only branch handing applications, but the district may expand the service to other branches in the future.
Before you head to the Library, though, you’ll need to first go to the U.S. Department of State’s website, travel.state.gov to download an application and to find out what documents and fees are required. The Library Center will also have application forms.
A federally required, $25 execution fee per application will go to the library district for library operations.
