A winter weather advisory is in effect tomorrow from 6 am to midnight. Andy Foster, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield, says a mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet is expected to fall in the Ozarks.
"Areas generally along and south of I-44 we expect anywhere from one to three inches of snowfall. It could be mixed with a little light sleet and freezing rain. As you go further north, though, snowfall accumulations will increase with as much as four to six inches across central Missouri," he said.
Foster says, while this isn’t necessarily a major winter storm, it will impact travel tomorrow.
"Roads will become slick and hazardous on Tuesday, and we expect that precipitation to begin probably after most people go to work. So, if you go to work or school take that into account that road conditions will deteriorate during the day and probably will be hazardous especially untreated roads by the afternoon commute on Tuesday, so make the appropriate plans for that," he said.
According to Foster, temperatures will remain very cold this week with a chance for light snow Thursday and another chance for accumulating snow as early as Friday with a better chance on Saturday.
