The JQH Arena has lined up another Grammy Award-winning artist to perform in Springfield. KSMU’s Jennifer Moore has details.

Michael Buble, who has been called a modern-day Frank Sinatra because of his re-interpretation of classic songs like “Stardust,” will perform in the JQH Arena June 21.

The stop is part of his “Crazy Love” tour, named after the album that won him best traditional pop vocal album this year.

Keith Boaz is the director of the JQH Arena.

"With every show that we've been able to pull of in the last 12 months, each one has gotten bigger and better. We've enjoyed a very great 12 months, and this is just another feather in the cap for Springfield, the university, and the facility," Boaz said.

In an interview with the British newspaper, “The Guardian,” the Canadian singer said he developed an appreciation for swing music from his grandfather, who gave him old records of Ella Fitzgerald and Sinatra.

In that article, he is quoted as saying he was about to give up on the music industry when the Canadian Prime Minister heard about him through a friend, and asked him to play at his daughter’s wedding…where a famous producer was on the guest list.

Tickets go on sale Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m., and start at around 50 dollars.
