Speed Limit to Rise on Some City Streets

Springfield drivers will soon be able to drive faster on several city streets. KSMU's Alvin Chen reports. Louise Whall, spokesperson for the City of Springfield, says the city is raising some speed limits on larger roads to divert traffic from neighborhoods. She says the changes are in response to a speed limit study of city streets and public comments. The new limits are being rolled out two streets at a time through the week of December 1st. Most changes involve raising speed limits by 5 mph, although a segment of Cherry Street will go up by 10 mph.The two changes that will take effect the week of Novmber 10th are Sunset Street, from Campbell Avenue to Kansas Expressway, and Walnut Lawn, from Kansas Expressway to Campbell Avenue. The speed limit will go up from 35 mph to 40 mph.For more information, you can visit the city's website: KSMU News, I'm Alvin Chen.
