The 17th annual Kitchen 5K Fun Run is set to kick off this Saturday, rain or shine. KSMU's Jennifer Moore reports.

Proceeds from The Kitchen's 5K Fun Run will go to the Family Nurturing Center, a free daycare for children living at the Missouri Hotel, Springfield's largest homeless shelter.

Kippie Kutz, The Kitchen's Assistant Director in Development, says this year's race has something for everyone.

Kutz said there's a 5K run, a 5K walk, and a 5K stroller event, along with a new event: a mile walk for parents with small children.

The races start at 8 a.m. from the City Utilities building on Central Street.

Those who register in advance pay 10 dollars for ages 12 and under, or 15 dollars for ages 13 and older. If you register on the day of the race, fees are an additional 5 dollars.

Entry forms are available online at thekitcheninc.org. For more information, you can call The Kitchen at 837-1500.
