Springfield city leaders are pushing hard to see Commercial Street return to its past glory.
This evening, business owners and local residents alike are invited to share their opinion on the possibility of funding the redevelopment project with a tax-increment financing district.
Questionnaires have already been mailed out and tonight, community members will have a chance to voice their opinion on what projects are important to them.
Mike MacPherson is a City Planner for the city of Springfield.
He says there are different ways the money raised by a TIF-district can be used.
City leaders will be present at the discussion to answer any questions you may have regarding the workings of a TIF-district.
MacPherson says hopes are to have a redevelopment plan complete by the end of this year.
