  • The Chinese Students and Scholars Association at MSU will host a Chinese New Year Banquet tonight (2/3) at 5:30 in the Plaster Student Union Ballroom.  Admission is $10 or $5 for MSU faculty and staff.  Tickets can be purchased between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm in Glass Hall on the first floor near the elevator and in the Plaster Student Union food court and between 8 am and 5 pm in Carrington room 210.
  • You’re invited to the Springfield Conservation Nature Center tonight (2/3) for an evening of Native American Storytelling and an Evening Stroll.  Trails will be open and patrolled from 6 to 9.  Inside the Nature Center, at 7, Native American storyteller John Hernandez will tell stories about nature.  For more information, 888-4237.
  • The Midwest Division Sports Car Club of America will be at the Ramada Oasis Hotel and Convention Center today through Sunday (2/3-2/5).  For details, www.midiv.org.
  • A dance is held each Friday night at 7 at the West Plains Senior Center.  Admission is $4, and all ages are welcome.
  • The Heart of the Ozarks Bluegrass Association hosts Acoustic Jam on the Square Friday nights at 7.  The Acoustic Country, Folk & Rock Jam is held at the West Plains Music Store and a Bluegrass Jam is at #1 Evans Arcade.  Take chairs if you just want to listen or chairs and instruments if you want to join in.

  • The Greene County Clerk’s Office will be open tomorrow (2/4) from 9 am to 1 pm for anyone wishing to cast an absentee vote in the upcoming Presidential Primary Election.  To learn more, 868-4060.

  • A Bluegrass Show and Jam will be held tomorrow (2/4) at the Firefighters Union Hall, 2350 N. Clifton, in Springfield.  The Jam will start at 4, and the show will start at 6:30.  It will feature three bands:  Flat Creek Bluegrass, Sac River Bluegrass and Sugar Tree Bluegrass.  Donations will be accepted.  For more information, 849-9521.
  • The Missouri State is offering free tax preparation help through the VITA program for those who qualify.  Sessions will be held tomorrow (2/4) from 10 to 2 at the Midtown Carnegie Branch Library and in Glass Hall on the MSU campus.  For more information, 864-0030.
