Local Scientists Discuss New Collaborative Study on Contaminants in Ozark Water

Missouri Department of Natural Resources

“One of the fundamental and interesting questions is, ‘What’s in the water that flows around us’?” So says Bob Pavlowsky, a geographer and water specialist at Missouri State University.

When we put things into our drains, we typically forget about it. But, for Dr. Pavlowsky and his collaborator, MSU microbiologist Paul Durham, it’s what happens to the water after it gets downstream that really matters.

These two scientists join STEM Spots host Dr. David Cornelison to talk about their collaborative water resource project and the possible implications of their future results.

Dr. David Cornelison has been working as an educator and scientist in Arizona and Missouri universities for the last 32 years. From 2010-2018, he was the head of the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Materials Science at Missouri State University. His research interests lie at the intersection of experimental condensed-matter physics and astrophysics, while his educational efforts have focused on outreach to the K-12 school system. Most of all, he believes in curiosity-driven learning in the sciences and all other fields.
