As of 11:59 Friday night, April 16, most occupancy restrictions will be lifted in Springfield. The city is moving from the red phase to the yellow phase on the Road to Recovery.
Face coverings will still be required in most public places. And businesses and organizations that offer enhanced risk activities will still have to limit how many people can enter. Those include things like movies and live performances, dancing, arcades, billiards, fitness classes and religious services. Bars are included in that group. There are also restrictions for events with more than 500 people.
In a news release, Springfield mayor, Ken McClure, called the move to the yellow phase “a step forward and a symbol of progress in the community’s fight against COVID-19.”
Greene County met all three thresholds to move to the yellow phase on Monday. Those are fewer than 40 cases per day on a seven-day rolling average for 28 days; fewer than 50 individuals hospitalized for at least 28 days and at least 25 percent of Greene County’s population 16 and older fully vaccinated.
