Blue Alerts provide law enforcement with an early warning of threats against police officers, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. They also help to apprehend suspects who have killed or seriously injured an officer. And they are now included in the AMBER Alert System in Missouri.

Blue Alerts will be issued when a law enforcement officer is killed or seriously injured in the line of duty; an officer is missing in connection with official duties; there’s an imminent and credible threat to kill or seriously injure a law enforcement officer; there’s actionable information known about a suspect for a public notification to be helpful to law enforcement; and the law enforcement agency involved requests or approves the alert being issued.

The new system includes wireless emergency alerts, automated social media alerts and a public website,, which provides the latest information on AMBER Alerts and Blue Alerts that are currently active.

If you’ve subscribed to emailed AMBER Alerts, you’ll automatically receive Blue Alerts.  Anyone who would like to sign up to receive them should to go
