House Majority Whip Roy Blunt says Congress should act in light of the court ruling that gives government broader authority to use eminent domain. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.

House Majority Whip Roy Blunt was in Springfield today (Thursday) to talk about the recent Supreme Court Ruling on eminent domain.

The ruling gives government the authority to condemn private property to make way for the construction of private businesses.

Blunt says Congress will consider legislation that's designed to strongly discourage governments from using this new authority.

Blunt says the eminent domain case emphasizes the importance of the composition of the Supreme Court, especially since President Bush is in the process of choosing a nominee to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
