Lawmakers sent the governor legislation designed to keep vaccines containing a mercury preservative away from young children and pregnant women. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.
Under the bill, vaccines containing the mercury preservative thimerasol would be banned for children under the age of three and pregnant women.
The bill sponsor is Republican Senator Norma Champion of Springfield.
Champion says she had hoped lawmakers would support an all out ban on vaccines containing mercury.
But in the end, she says she compromised and agreed for protections only for young children and pregnant women
