City officials in Joplin say they’ve received complaints about political signs that people have recently put up.
They’re reminding citizens of the city’s ordinance regarding political signs.
According to the ordinance, political signs can’t be more than eight feet in area, no more than five feet tall and can’t be closer than 15 feet from the back of a curb or street edge. And signs cannot be located on any public right-of way.
City planner, Keegan Stanton, said in a news release the rules are meant to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.
He said the city will enforce the ordinance if a sign is in violation.
