Road Closures Begin For Birthplace Of Route 66 Festival

City of Springfield

Several roads closures have begun in downtown Springfield for the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival.  Closures and traffic impacts will continue through Sunday morning.

Three streets are already closed—the tuning forks from Jefferson to St. Louis and from St. Louis to McDaniel; and St. Louis Street from Jefferson to Benton.

Starting Friday morning, St. Louis St. from the Expo Center to Jefferson will be closed as well as Park Central Square and connecting streets; Jefferson from Water to McDaniel; Benton from Trafficway to St. Louis; Patton from Olive to McDaniel; Robberson from Olive to McDaniel.  McDaniel Street from Robberson to Jefferson will have one-way traffic eastbound only.  From Jefferson to Kimbrough on McDaniel only one-way, westbound traffic will be allowed.

Saturday, Benton from Trafficway to St. Louis will be closed as well as South Avenue from Park Central South to Walnut.

And the parade Friday night (8/9) will also require road closures.

The Birthplace of Route 66 Festival opens Friday (8/9) at noon and Saturday morning at 10 and goes until around 11 p.m. both days.
