Springfield-Branson National Airport 2018 Passenger Record is Official

City of Springfield

Springfield-Branson National Airport officials say it’s official:  2018 was the first year that one million passengers used the facility.

Brian Weiler, the airport’s director of aviation, says 1,075,425 passengers used the airport last year, an 8.3 percent increase over 2017.  And SGF set a yearly passenger record for the fourth consecutive year.

According to the airport, SGF passenger numbers have grown 43 percent since 2018.

The higher numbers will benefit the airport’s customers, according to a news release from SGF, which says one airline added a second de-icing truck as the airport approached its one million passenger mark.  Others put aircraft mechanics at the airport on a full-time basis.  That should mean fewer flight delays due to aircraft mechanical issues.

The airport plans to add at least 300 more parking spots this year and will expand its rental car facilities.
