Supporters of a proposal to build a new coal-fired power plant will hit the pavement tomorrow.
Voters will decide on June 6th whether to allow City Utilities of Springfield to borrow up to 615 million dollars to pay for the new power plant.
Kevin Clingan is President-elect of the Springfield Homebuilders Association and is involved with the Vote Yes for Local Power Supply Committee.
Clingan explains why he supports building a new coal-fired power plant.
Opponents of the power plant have their own campaign underway.
Gary Wright is a member of Southwest Missouri Citizens for Clean Energy.
He says his group has been holding public forums to educate the public on alternative energy sources and conservation.
Wright says there are other ways to meet the energy demands of Springfield.
Again, voters in the city of Springfield will have the chance to decide the issue on June 6th.
