Watch out for Students Today

dnr.mo.gov

Some area schools, including Springfield and Nixa, open up their doors today after a long summer vacation.  And CoxHealth is offering safety tips.  CoxHealth Trauma Services reminds drivers to drive slowly in residential areas and school zones and don't text and drive.  Remember to stop for buses that are loading and unloading children.

Parents should remind kids to obey traffic rules--to cross only at crosswalks and to watch for signals from the bus driver that it's OK to cross the street.  Children who ride bikes to school should watch for traffic, wear a helmet and observe all traffic laws, including stopping at stop signs.  And parents should take a few minutes to discuss the dangers of talking to strangers and who they should tell about any stranger activity.
