Historian James C. “Chris” Edwards will examine the attack of infamous Civil War guerrilla William C. Quantrill on Lawrence, Kansas. This presentation examines the popular version of the Lawrence Raid (Massacre) and first-person testimonials that conflict with it.

Topics to be explored include:
• The issue of weapons.
• Was the raid a massacre?
• Did Lawrence have defensive fortifications?
• Exploring the issue of innocent victims.

Participants will be able to review the evidence and decide for themselves what the truth is about the Lawrence Raid.
