Loosely based on Puccini’s opera “La Bohème,” this award-winning musical follows a year in the lives of a group of young, impoverished artists in Lower Manhattan’s East Village. Aspiring filmmaker Mark and punk rocker Roger are roommates who are struggling creatively, financially, and romantically. They and others in their circle of friends live under the constant threat of eviction — as well as the terrifying specter of HIV/AIDS — yet they share a longing to connect with others in meaningful ways. Packed with musical numbers including “One Song Glory,” “Your Eyes” and “Seasons of Love,” "RENT" celebrates the drive to live each day to the fullest.
