Understanding Freedmen’s Bureau Records. The Freedmen’s Bureau records, created by the federal government in 1865, are helpful when researching formerly enslaved individuals and those living and working in the South after the American Civil War. Barbara Mulvihill, a retired librarian from Salina, Kansas, will discuss how to access the Freedmen’s Bureau Records and what types of information can be gathered from them. This program is sponsored by the Ozarks Genealogical Society.
