Dickerson Park Zoo

Dickerson Park Zoo’s Halloween Spooktacular continues tonight (10/31) from 6:30 to 9.  To learn more, dickersonparkzoo.org.

A Cultural Corner will be held today (10/31) from 4:30 to 6 at the Jim D. Morris Center on Jefferson in downtown Springfield.  Anyone is welcome to attend and talk with international students to allow them to practice their English and allow participants to learn about other cultures.  For more information, click here.

The Normal Heart Production is at Springfield Contemporary Theatre, 431 S. Jefferson, tonight and tomorrow night (10/31-11/1) at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon (11/2) at 2.  For tickets, 836-5652.

Great Downtown Pumpkin Fest will be held tonight (10/31) from 5 to 7 in historic downtown West Plains.  Kids in costume will get a free photo taken and kids can take part in Trunk or Treat events. 

The Midwest Technical Institute, 3600 S. Glenstone, invites kids to a Safe Trick or Treat tonight (10/31) from 5 to 7 featuring candy and a haunted house.

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department invites you to the 18th annual Treat Yourself in Republic event tonight (11/1) from 5:30 to 8:30.  Area businesses, churches and organizations will provide a safe alternative to trick-or-treating.  A map of participating locations is available at the Republic Community Center or at republicmo.com.

The Springfield Art Museum invites kids to Trick Art Treat this morning (10/31) from 10 to noon.  There will be face painting, a costume contest, a performance by the Springfield Little Theatre’s YEStroupe and more.  Admission is free.

The MSU men’s ice hockey team will be in action tonight (10/31) at 7 at Mediacom Ice Park.  For more information, click here.

Night of the Living Dead, a live stage adaptation of George A. Romero’s classic horror, will be at the Avenue Theatre in West Plains tonight and tomorrow night (10/31-11/1) at 7.  Tickets are $8 at the door, $7 for seniors and active or retired military.

Acoustic Jam on the Square is tonight (10/31) at 7 at West Plains Music on the square in West Plains.  Take instruments if you want to join in and lawn chairs.

Winter hours at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center start tomorrow (11/1) and run through February 28th.  Hours are 8 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday for the building and 8 am to 6 pm for the trails.  The building and trails will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The 7C’s Winery will host a Chainsaw Carving Festival to benefit the Wolchek Foundation tomorrow (11/1) from 9 to 5 and Sunday (11/2) from 9 to 1 featuring chainsaw artists and live music.  A live auction starts at 2 on Sunday.  Admission is free.  Take a canned food item for the Ash Grove Food Pantry.  For more information, click here.

The Park Central Branch Library’s Walk-In Weekend Theater will feature “Origin:  Spirits of the Past” for ages 13 and older tomorrow night (10/31) from 6:30 to 8:30.

The 3rd annual Eureka Springs Zombie Crawl & Day of the Dead Parade is tomorrow night (11/1) at 6:30 beginning at the Carnegie Public Library and ending at Basin Spring Park.  Zombies and parade participants are asked to line up at the library at 5:30 and take two or more canned food items for the Flint Street Food Bank.  To learn more, Ezomb.com.

The Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild will host its Holiday Bazaar at the Village Shopping Center in Springfield tomorrow (11/1) from 9 am to 4 pm.
