After serving Greene County for the last 27 years, one former official will be taking his skill-set to the state auditor’s office. KSMU’s Justin Lux has the details.
On Wednesday afternoon, newly elected state auditor Tom Schweich introduced many of his new staff members. Included in that group was former Greene County prosecutor Darrell Moore.
Moore, who recently retired from the prosecutor’s office after making an unsuccessful run for Congress, will be serving as the chief litigator in the auditor’s office.
As Moore puts it, the job offers him a chance to learn something new, yet do something he is very familiar with.
“My primary function, that of being a attorney and a litigator, is the core function that I will be doing here, but it is also a chance to do something different: learn another area of the law and have the ability to do things on the statewide level that I did to some extent on a local level in Greene County,” he says .
He says if he ever does really retire, there’s a chance he’ll probably do something else before settling down. But for the time being, he is very happy with his current role.
“I view this as just another evolution of my career. I’m going to give it my full emphasis and effort over the next two years and maybe longer,” says Moore.
Along with his role as an attorney and litigator, Moore explained that Auditor Schweich will be creating a third role for him that will be announced in the next month or so.
