The 2009 Greene County personal property tax assessments are in the mail. KSMU’s Jennifer Moore has details.
Greene County Assessor Rick Kessinger says approximately 115,000 personal property assessments are on their way to residents and business owners.
Kessinger said most taxpayers who filled out personal property assessments last year will receive a list pre-printed with their 2008 details.
If you have personal property that does not appear on the list—such as a new car purchased in 2008—you can write or type that onto the list. Similarly, items which individuals no longer own should be crossed off.
Kessinger reminds residents to sign the form before mailing it in, otherwise it will need to be returned. Both personal property and business assessment lists must be returned to the County Assessor’s Office no later than March 1st to avoid late penalties, which range from 10 dollars to 100 dollars.
