St. John’s presented charitable organization “Care to Learn” with a donation of $50,000 Tuesday afternoon. KSMU's Brett Moser reports.
Doug Pitt, founder of the organization and brother of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, accepted the check at a press conference.
“Care to Learn” is a local organization that works with Springfield public schools to meet the needs of students. The money raised goes towards purchasing adequate clothing, food, or hygiene items for students in need.
Pitt says that community support has been overwhelming since the charity’s beginning in late March.
Pitt says the organization has raised over $300,000 to date. Starting in March 2009, he says the Pitt-Jolie Foundation will match all community donations on a four to one ratio.
